Install EOS software upgrades without CD (64 bit systems)

Edit: For 32 bit systems, please go here. If you don’t know what system type you have, please refer to this page.

Note: I own an EOS camera and possess the CD. This is only an easier and cleaner way to install the software after an OS reinstall.

Paste the following into notepad and save as canon.reg:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOS Utility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\DPP]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX\Settings]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ZoomBrowser EX\Install]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\PhotoStitch
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOS Capture]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\EOSViewerUtility]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Canon\ODSK]

Then right click the file and select Merge. You should now be able top install the upgrades on a clean system.

  2. A pleasure. I don't understand why Canon won't let us do this without hacking. After all, why would you want to install this software if you don't own an EOS?
